Frequently Asked Questions

What is ECGM?

The Equine Gestalt Coaching Method was developed by Melisa Pearce, a core founder since 1989, of the horse-human healing movement.  The experiential nature of the method involves the horse as an active partner with the coach in the client's exploratory process.  The integrative approach of the equine's interaction combined with positive coaching, somatic awareness, guidance and Gestalt methodology, assist the client in examining their life and choices made with a focus on designing a positive future.

Do I need Horse Experience?

No horse experience is necessary to participate in an EGCM coaching session and you will not ride the horse.

What makes this different from other coaching methods?

Horses bring a large, living, breathing component to the experience.  As a prey animal, horses live always in the moment and are always aware of the energy surrounding them.  They have the  uncanny ability to read people, and draw out to truth. The connection, and lessons learned from an Equine Insights workshop are immediately felt and will be carried back home long after the session is over.

What should I expect?

The beauty of the Gestalt methodology is its flexibility.  Equine Insights sessions can take many forms and will be tailored to your particular needs and desired outcome.  They can take a morning, a day, or a weekend.  Frequently my clients will ask for follow up interim coaching sessions between live sessions with the horses.
